Lego weekend

Jeff and I decided to put back together the Lego Indiana Jones set of legos. In particular the big boulder set. This was a major undertaking since basically all of the sets that we have were contained in a big tub or scattered on the floor in various places to be stepped on later. We finally finished the project but we are missing some pieces. Ironically the set is of the idol scene and we are missing the idol and one of the tracks for the boulder to come down on.

We had a good time even though it was a pain in the neck, literally for me at least, to hunch down and look for the pieces. Luke took a lot of breaks throughout the process to go do something else:) He is going to be so excited when his birthday comes around though. Stay tuned for that post.

The 3rd picture that you see is a ship that Jeff built and Luke modified. Essentially anything that Jeff builds for Luke gets modified from the original version and usually has some really cool additions. I mean who would have thought that a guard gate would go well on a ship guarded by skeletons!!!

Lauren's Stufties at a party

Lauren and I made party hats for her stufties. She wanted to make sure that all her friends would have party hats for her birthday party as well. We are still working on that.

Luke and Carnaval

At school this week there were two days of Carnaval. He didn't tell me much about it but he did come home with this cool dragon face painting. As you can see he didn't want to wash it off and went to sleep with it on.

+15 Art Walk

Lauren and I went on an Art Walk in downtown Calgary with our MOM's group. The best part of her trip was taking the train downtown. At first Lauren did not want to go on the train because she was reminded of the train ride in Kemah which was loud and scary for her. I quickly switched tactics and we rode the subway train instead:) She likes and episode of Team Umizoomi where they ride a subway. She really liked the train a lot and it was the highlight of her day. The Art Walk takes place on the +15 in downtown Calgary. It is a series of above ground walkways that connect buildings together. In some areas there are different types of art work including paintings and sculptures. Some of these were outside as was the one in the picture with Lauren. She really liked this one the best.

Lauren as the Tickle Bunny

Lauren picked up a few things at Michael's craft store and thus turned into the Tickle Bunny. (The flower is for tickling).

Luke the Screenwriter

Luke loves to journal at school. Today he decided that he wanted to write a story. He couldn't decide if it was going to be about Indiana Jones or Star Wars. He decided on Indiana Jones. The story is titled, 'Indiana Jones and the Lost Jewel.' He threw a Stormtrooper in for good measure.
Jeff told him that he had the whole story in his head and he just needed to put it on paper. The top picuture is him putting his story on paper (he thought he would be cute). The bottom one is just the writer at work. After he was finished he wanted to film it!

Drumheller

Canada celebrates Family Day which in my opinion is an awesome idea. Over this weekend we went to Drumheller which is about an hour and a half northeast of Calgary. They have an amazing dinosaur museum there and we had a fantastic time. Lauren liked the indoor garden area the best and they both enjoyed the play area that had a ball shooter.

Lauren's favorite dinosaurs are the triceratops, brachiosaurus, pteradon and stegasaurus. Luke's favorites are stegasaurus, pteradactyl, T-rex, and brachiosaurus.

Lake Louise in the Winter

Today we decided since the weather was nice (in the 40's F) we would drive up to Lake Louise. It was amazing. The lake was frozen so we actually walked on the snow ON TOP of the lake. There were some slushy patches and Lauren was a bit scared so she and I went back to 'solid ground' while Jeff and Luke trudged through snow banks that went up past their knees. Luke, who wanted to stay home today, had a great time. When we met up again we walked around by the hotel where they had various ice sculptures. The coolest one was a castle structure. After taking it all in we went to have an early dinner in Banff. It was the neatest experience, but I still think that Lake Louise in the summer is breathtaking and one of the most beautiful places that I have seen.
