Yellowstone

On our drive up to Calgary we decided to make it a mini-vacation. We drove to my grandmother's in Borger, TX, then to Denver, CO then up to Yellowstone National Park. The kids were FANTASTIC in the car but when they were out of the car they went a little nuts. We went to a Dinosaur museum in Wyoming where Luke pointed out his favorite dinosaur, the Miasauras. Then it was on to Yellowstone which was amazing and we had a great time. We saw Old Faithful, Lauren and Luke had lollipops after they decided that they didn't like the ice cream there (her bangin' 80's hair is so her hair wouldn't get sticky). On our way north out of the park we were in Montana and saw a bear on the side of the road. Overall it was a great road trip!

Canada house

Some of you may be curious about the house we are in. The first is of the front of the house. The second one is off the back porch and then a close up of Canada Olympic Park (COP), the site of the 1988 Olympics. We can't wait to go up there and take skiing lessons. The final one is a view of the mountains from our back porch-my personal favorite. We hope to be in this house for a few years. The couple who lived here are living in our house in Spring. We hope that they are VERY comfortable there because as long as they stay there we stay here rent free. So far we had a frost, as Jeff calls it, I call it snow because it was white and it stuck to the roofs. Snow in September just is mind-boggling to me.

Coming to Canada

I have decided to start a blog about our adventures in Canada. We have been here for 3 weeks and have already have quite a few. We have a fantastic 'swap' house up here in Calgary and we love it. It has a beautiful view and it fits us perfectly. The kids are having a great time up here and don't like to leave the house. Of course this will probably get old once we CAN'T leave the house in winter. We have already had a few adjustments, first of which is the metric system. I really wish that America had stuck with teaching the metric system when I was in elementary school because then I wouldn't have to get an app on my phone that converts grams to ounces:) We are off to Banff/Lake Louise today to enjoy this beautiful weather.
